Trek have given us an early look at their road range for 2017 including every model, detail and specification. Here's a look at the 2017 Endurance and Performance Race Bike range featuring the latest Domane, Silque, Lexa, Emonda, Madone and 1 bikes.

What's new for Trek in 2017?
Trek have upped the ante on their commitment to providing comfort through built in compliance, both Silque and Domane ranges getting a front IsoSpeed decoupler in addition to the rear. Trek say the technology 'delivers an additional 10% of front-end compliance over a traditional road bike' which adds to the Domane and Silque's already smooth ride. Selected bikes in both ranges are also equipped with the innovative adjustable rear IsoSpeed allowing riders to tailor compliance according to the terrain or their own preferences.
New flat mount disc brakes that are lighter, smaller and cleaner than traditional disc brakes feature on the majority of 2017 Domane bikes, as does the IsoCore handlebar which reduces 'vibration by 20% over standard carbon handlebars' according to Trek.
Some models will now feature RSL in their title. RSL stands for Race Shop Limited, Trek's 'rare and beautiful consequence of Trek product development collaborating with world-class athletes'. RSL is Trek's premium arm of their bike and product line with 'pro' features like upgraded componentry, higher specifications and H1 geometry.
The new wireless 'eTap' drivetrain from SRAM features on top-tier models, the new Shimano Dura-Ace groupset makes its first appearance and Vision wheels make multiple appearances on different models to increase the value proposition for those riders that want 'race' wheels without having to make an additional after-market purchase.
An exciting new development in Trek's customisation program Project One lands in 2017. The new program is called 'Project One Now' and is a modified version of Trek's hugely successful Project One that allows you to 'customise, personalise and sensationalise' a Trek bike of your choice. Rather than choosing the model, fit, styling and components of a bike, 'Project One Now' has three colour options across several models so if you don't fancy the 'stock' option, you can choose one of the alternatives. The models that will feature in the Project One Now catalogue for 2017 are the EX 9.8, Emonda SLR 6, Domane SLR 6, Domane SLR 6 Disc and the Madone 9.2.
Trek’s road range continues with two unique geometry options throughout; H1 and H2. H1 is the 'racier' option with an aggressive geometry that lowers a riders frontal profile by reducing the headtube length and increasing the frame reach. H2 is the 'endurance' or 'relaxed' geometry, built for the non-racer, where the headtube is longer and frame reach shorter to create a more upright, comfortable position.
James Huang did an extensive profile of the 2017 Domane describing it as "quite possibly the smoothest-riding road bike on the market." It's a big call but the introduction of the front IsoSpeed working in partnership with the adjustable rear IsoSpeed and the IsoCore handlebars, it's easy to see how James came to that conclusion.
While still featuring the IsoSpeed technology in the rear, the new Domane has a twin seat tube design to separate structural and ride comfort roles, opposed to the previous model which relied on the whole seat tube flexing under load to provide compliance. A further enhancement is the ability to customise the stiffness by sliding a spacer that separates the seat tube and integrated seat mast up or down. According to Trek, the most comfortable setting is now 14% softer than before but the least is 25% more firm. It really is astonishing technology that can turn your bike from a stiff racing machine to an all-day adventurer.
The front IsoSpeed technology uses a pivot mechanism to maintain lateral stiffness while allowing for compliance. The unique design allows the upper headset bearings to pivot so that the fork's steerer tube can flex within the frame. The IsoCore handlebar is also new for 2017, providing '20% more movement at the hoods under load than a conventional all-carbon bar — or 24% more than an aluminium one' via a layer of rubber inside the carbon fibre lay-up.
Trek Australia have expanded their Domane fleet to 15 different models incorporating a Race Shop Limited edition, disc and non-disc equipped options, and two aluminium versions. Details of the full range below.
The Domane SLR 10 RSL is the only Domane model to be made from 700 Series OCLV carbon, 'The lightest, strongest carbon available' and 'the ultimate combination of superior modulus and superior strength' according to the American brand. The geometry is more targeted to those that plan on racing or prefer an aggressive, stretched out position. 'Pro Endurance' geometry drops the headtube length and increases frame reach to create a more race-orientated position. The wheels and tyres further lend themselves to racing, Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 Tubular RSL wheels with Bontrager R4 Classic Tubular 28c tyres. The groupset is Shimano's top-tier Dura-Ace Di2 with compact cranks and an 11-28 cassette.
There are six other SLR Domane options, all of which are made from the 600 Series OCLV carbon, a level below the 700 series but the 'best balance of frame weight/stiffness in the industry' according to Trek. The geometry is the more traditional 'endurance geometry' we're used to seeing on the Domane range. There are two disc equipped models; Domane SLR 9 Disc and Domane SLR 6 Disc and four rim brake options; Domane SLR 9 eTap, Domane SLR 9, Domane SLR 7 and Domane SLR 6.
The two disc options have flat mount hydraulic disc brakes, 32c tyres, IsoCore handlebars, compact crankset and an 11-28 cassette, the major difference is the Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain for the 9 and Ultegra mechanical for the 6. The SLR 9 eTap is the only Domane to feature SRAM components but sits at the top of the tree thanks to the new wireless technology. It too features a compact crankset, 11-28 cassette and upgraded Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 Tubeless Ready wheels. The colourway, wheelset and drivetrain separates the remaining rim brake SLR options. The SLR 9 features Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 Tubeless Ready wheels and Dura-Ace Di2, the SLR 7 features Bontrager Paradigm Comp Tubeless Ready wheels and Ultegra Di2, and the SLR 6 features Bontrager Paradigm Comp Tubeless Ready wheels and Ultegra mechanical.
- There are five SL Domane options; the 7, 6 Disc, 6 Pro, 6, and 5 Disc. All models are made from the 500 series OCLV carbon and share much of the same technology of the SLR including; E2 Asymmetric steerer to improve handling and compliance, front IsoSpeed decoupler, H2 endurance geometry, internal cable routing and the oversized BB90 bottom bracket. The SL options don't feature the adjustable rear IsoSpeed decoupler, instead using the non-adjustable IsoSpeed decoupler which still provides more than adequate rear end compliance. The IsoCore handlebars are also missing from the SL series.
The SL 7 has Ultegra Di2 and Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels, the SL 6 Disc has Ultegra mechanical, upgraded Vision Metron 40 Disc LTD wheels and flat mount hydraulic disc brakes, the SL Pro also features upgraded Vision Metron 40 LTD wheels and Ultegra mechanical but without the flat mount hydraulic disc brakes, the SL 6 has Ultegra mechanical and Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels, and finally the SL 5 Disc has Shimano 105, upgraded Vision Metron 40 Disc LTD wheels and flat mount hydraulic disc brakes.
There is only a single S option in the Domane line-up, the S 5 Disc. The S series is made from 400 Series OCLV carbon and the S 5 Disc features Shimano 105, Bontrager Tubeless Ready disc wheels, rear IsoSpeed decoupler and post mount hydraulic disc brakes.
The Domane range has two aluminium versions, the ALR 5 Disc and ALR 4 Disc. Both models are made from 200 Series Alpha Aluminium, feature IsoSpeed technology, smooth frame lines thanks to 'Invisible Weld Technology' and flat mount hydraulic disc brakes. The ALR 5 Disc has the 11-speed Shimano 105 drivetrain, while the ALR 4 Disc has the 10-speed Tiagra.

Silque is the women's specific equivalent of the Domane. The Silque features the adjustable rear IsoSpeed decoupler, front IsoSpeed decoupler and IsoCore handlebars, with the WSD (Women's Specific Design) geometry, ride-tuned frame and different touch points (saddle, handlebars, etc). .
There are two SLR models; the SLR 7 and SLR 6, both made from 600 series OCLV carbon. The smallest frame size for the Domane is 50cm, whereas the Silque goes all the way down to 44cm to cater for smaller bodies. The SLR 7 features Ultegra Di2, compact crankset with an 11-28 cassette, Bontrager Paradigm Comp Tubeless Ready wheels, Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite 28c tyres and direct mount rim brakes. The SLR 6 features Ultegra mechanical, compact crankset and a larger ratio 11-32 cassette with the same wheels, tyres and brakes as the SLR 7. Both available to customise through Project One.
There are three S series Silque's; The S 6, S 5 and S 4. All of the three models are made from 400 series OCLV carbon, feature the previous rear IsoSpeed decoupler (non-adjustable), and utilise the same WSD geometry and ride-tuned frame.
The S 6 features Ultegra mechanical, compact crankset with an 11-32 cassette, Bontrager Tubeless Ready rims wheels and Bontrager R1 Hard-Case Lite 25c tyres. The S 5 features 105, compact crankset with a larger 11 --32 cassette and the same wheel/tyre combo as the S 6, and finally the S 4 features 10-speed Tiagra, compact crankset, also with an 11 - 32 cassette and same wheel/tyre combo as the other S series Silque's.

The entry level women's specific endurance road bike, the Lexa, is back with two models, Lexa 4 and Lexa 3. Both models have 100 Series Alpha Aluminium frame, carbon forks, Shimano groupsets, Bontrager Tubeless Ready wheels, and Bontrager T1 25c tyres.
The Lexa 4 features 10-speed Tiagra, compact crankset paired with an 11-32 cassette while the Lexa 3 features 9-speed Sora, compact crankset with an 11-28 cassette.

The Émonda is back and has expanded to 13 models for 2017. When first released the Émonda set tongues wagging with a 690 gram frame making it one of the lightest production road bikes ever. Since 2014 Trek Factory Racing riders have piloted the Émonda up the steepest climbs on the professional circuit, making great use of the bikes elite stiffness to weight ratio.
For 2017 the Émonda gets two Race Shop Limited models, we see SRAM eTap as well as the new 9100 Dura-Ace, and there are two budget friendly aluminium models as well. The Émonda's appear to offer the best variety of colourways across the Trek range if you want to spice things up without getting a unique Project One creation.
The Émonda SLR 10 RSL would beat that of any WorldTour riders bike as it doesn't have to conform to UCI weight restrictions. The frame is made from Ultralight 700 Series OCLV Carbon, SRAM Red eTap is the groupset choice and to top off this ridiculously lightweight package, the wheels are Bontrager Aeolus XXX SL tubular paired with Bontrager R4 Tubular 25c tyres. The SLR 10 RSL is clearly built for climbing and the compact crankset and 11-28 cassette is the perfect gear ratio for the task. The 'Race Shop Limited' also means the geometry is the racier H1.
There are three more SLR Émondas; the SLR 9, SLR 8 RSL and the SLR 6. All models are built from the Ultralight 700 Series OCLV Carbon and have Shimano groupsets. The biggest difference between each of these bikes is the groupset, wheelset and geometry. The SLR 9 features Dura-Ace Di2, compact crankset, Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 Tubeless Ready wheels and the more 'relaxed' H2 geometry. The SLR 8 RSL features the new Dura-Ace 9100, pro-compact crankset (52-36T), Bontrager Paradigm Elite Tubeless Ready wheels and the more aggressive H1 geometry which is standard across the Race Shop Limited range. The SLR 6 features Ultegra mechanical, compact crankset, Bontrager Paradigm Comp Tubeless Ready wheels and H2 geometry.
There are five SL Émonda's; SL 7, SL 6 Pro, SL 6, SL 6 Women's and SL 5. All models are built from 500 Series OCLV Carbon, have H2 geometry and Shimano groupsets. The SL 7 features Ultegra Di2, compact crankset and Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels, the SL Pro features Ultegra mechanical, compact crankset, and comes race ready with Vision Metron 40 LTD wheels. The SL 6 features Ultegra mechanical, compact crankset and Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels which is the same as the SL 6 Women's although the women's has WSD specific geometry, touch points and ride-tuned frame. The SL 5 features 105, compact crankset and Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready wheels.

The two ALR models offer more budget friendly options to get your hands on a versatile, lightweight Émonda. Both are made from 300 Series Alpha Aluminium, have H2 geometry, Bontrager Tubeless Ready wheels with alloy hubs, and Shimano groupsets with compact cranks. The ALR 5 has 11-speed 105 and the ALR 4 10-speed Tiagra.

Trek's 'Ultimate Race Bike' the Madone, mostly stays the same for 2017 but does get some new colourways, a new wheelset option and the new Dura-Ace 9100 gets a look in too.
Released in 2015, the new Madone became Trek's aero specific bike with Kammtail Virtual Foil (KVF) tube profiles, one-piece bar / stem combo, integrated cabling, hidden brakes and deep profile wheels, but it was also so much more. The Madone was super stiff thanks to an enormous downtube and chunky chain stays, yet still managed to provide significant compliance by incorporating the IsoSpeed technology of the Domane.
At the top of the Madone hierarchy is the RSL, built from 700 Series OCLV carbon, featuring Dura-Ace Di2, standard 53/39 crankset, Bontrager Aeolus 5 D3 Tubeless Ready wheels with Bontrager R4 Hard-Case Lite 25c tyres and the more aggressive H1 geometry that features throughout the 'Race Shop Limited' range. It comes in a team edition colourway but via Project One you can create near-infinite customisation of parts and paint schemes.
The rest of the Madone range is built from 600 Series OCLV carbon, has the H2 geometry, features Shimano groupsets and a choice of either Vision or Bontrager wheels. The 9.9 features Dura-Ace Di2, compact crankset and Bontrager Aeolus 5 D3 Tubeless Ready wheels. There are three 9.5 options, all with Vision Metron 40 LTD and compact cranksets, The 9.5 Ultegra Di2 is obviously equipped with Ultegra Di2, the 9.5 has the new Dura-Ace 9100, while the 9.5 Women's has Ultegra Di2 with the WSD (Women's Specific Design) geometry and ride-tuned frame. The 9.2 features Ultegra mechanical, compact cranks and Bontrager Aura Tubeless Ready wheels with the alloy brake track.
Madone 9.5 Women's
Rounding out the performance road line up is the 1 series. The entry level aluminium road bike that aims to provide similar aero shaping and ride feel of Trek's top tier bikes. Both bikes are made from 100 Series Alpha Aluminium, have H2 'relaxed' geometry, feature Shimano groupsets and compact cranks; but setting the 1 series apart from the other road bikes is the compatibility for front and rear mud guards and racks, and toe clip and strap pedals, making it a perfect all-rounder as a starter road bike or fast commuter.
- The 1.2 features 9-speed Sora, Bontrager Tubeless Ready wheels with alloy hubs paired with Bontrager T1 25c tyres. The 1.1 features 8-speed Claris, Bontrager AT-750 double-walled alloy rim wheels with alloy hubs paired with Bontrager T1 25c tyres.
