Scott Cycling Products

In 1958, Ed Scott, a skier, and engineer from Idaho invented the first aluminium ski pole. The engineering and manufacturing techniques that Scott developed in the production of skiing and motocross equipment transferred effectively into the cycling business with the brand kicking up dirt with the production of its first mountain bike in 1986.

Three years later, Greg Lemond took one of the most famous Tour De France victories in history, beating Laurent Fignon by 58 seconds in the final time trial to win the 1989 edition by just 8 seconds. Helping him edge out Fignon, Lemond was using the world’s first clip-on aero bars, designed and manufactured by Scott.

Throughout the following decade, the brand continued to develop, expanding from winter gear into motorsports, running and cycling products that pushed the boundaries of what was achievable in terms of lightness and aerodynamics.

Today, cycling accounts for approximately 80% of the now Swiss-based Scott sports business, making them a prominent name in the cycling industry for everything from bikes to apparel, components, and shoes.

Head on over to our dedicated Scott bike page for information on riding options.

Scott Accessories, Components, and Clothing

Naturally, the brand has grown since producing its first mountain bike to develop a complete line of cycling products.

A number of years ago Scott acquired legendary component brand Syncros and has refined and expanded the range since. In addition to Syncros, Scott has its own range of high-quality helmets, shoes, clothing and accessories used by both entry-level riders and professionals in the WorldTour, such as the Orica-Scott racing team, formerly known as Orica-BikeExchange!
